Installation of the Scopevisio client under macOS

Updated over 2 months ago

The download of a Scopevisio client from the customer portal is displayed differently depending on the browser. As an example for the Google Chrome browser, you can perform the download as shown in the screenshots and conveniently switch to the "Downloads" folder.

Alternatively, you can use the macOS Dock or the macOS Finder to open the "Downloads" folder after the download.

Double-click in this folder to unzip the Scopevisio.app.zip. The "Scopevisio" app will then appear next to the ZIP file. Move this app to the "Applications" folder, see the following screenshot.

If Scopevisio is already available in an older version, macOS will ask whether you want to overwrite the app. You can boldly confirm this.

The Scopevisio app is then located in your "Applications" folder next to the other installed apps:

Up to this point, the process should look familiar to you and is independent of the macOS version. The Scopevisio client is now started with a double-click, which is acknowledged by macOS with a message. Confirm the message with "Done".

When starting an app freshly downloaded from the Internet, macOS 14 also indicated that the "Scopevisio" app could not be verified. Previously, you could avoid the warning by holding down "CMD" while trying to start the app again.

In macOS 15, this workaround has been removed or moved to a different location in the system settings. The message after a double-click therefore looks stricter. Holding down "CMD" is no longer sufficient and the app is even offered to be moved to the trash.

Authorisation to start the Scopevisio client

You must now enable the Scopevisio app in your system settings. To do this, open the system settings via the apple icon at the top left of your screen

In the system settings, there is an entry for "Data protection and security" in the list on the left-hand side. Select this and scroll down to the bottom on the right-hand side.

The area marked in the screenshot offers various options. On the one hand, macOS can generally be configured via a profile to make it easier to start non-verified apps. In the screenshot, the customisation is not easily possible for the user, but must be carried out by an administrator. You therefore have another option to release the "Scopevisio" app that is blocked at startup.

The "Open anyway" button corresponds to the usual combination of "CMD" + right-click. If you press this button, security prompts appear again, which you can confirm and authorise using Touch ID or password

The Scopevisio client now starts as usual:

If you want to restart the Scopevisio client the next day, you can do this in the usual way via "Programmes", the Launchpad or the Spotlight. You therefore do not have to carry out the steps described every time you start Scopevisio. The steps are only necessary again for a fresh download from the customer portal.
