What is "two-factor authentication"?
Scopevisio is a very secure software. When you use Scopevisio, you must enter a password to use the applications for which you are authorized.
For added security, Scopevisio also offers optional two-factor authentication. This requires an individual cryptographic key pair in addition to a password. The Scopevisio application receives a public key for which you personally have a private key on your individual computer. Only with the "two factors" of password and key can the door to your data be opened. For maximum security, each user and each computer used by that user should have its own key pair.
Prepare two-factor authentication
This function is only available for users with administrator rights.
Select System administration > User administration > Manage users. Here you can display the Two-factor authentication column.
Double-click on a user to call up their details.
In the Two-factor authentication row, select Set up.

In the following form, select the Add button .
Obtain a key pair
Where do I get a key pair? Scopevisio provides you with a small tool for download under this link. Click on the download link for the current version of the key pair generator.
The tool will be downloaded to your download folder.
Note: You also need a current version of Java to be able to use this function.
Double-click on the file to create a key pair. You will see the following message:
You will then find your public key (file extension .pub) and its private counterpart in the same folder as the key generator.
It makes sense to save the private key in a different location.
Now return to the Scopevisio form.
Entering the public key in Scopevisio
Select Add and
go to the storage location of the public key.
Select it and click on Open.
The key is entered in Scopevisio.

Click on the black triangle arrow on the right in the Path to private key file field.
Select the private key.
Click on Open.
Activate two-factor authentication
Select the line with the entered key pair and select Test authentication.
As soon as a success message appears,
click on Activate.
Lost key - what to do?
If a user has lost their key, an administrator can deactivate two-factor authentication for them in the user administration.
The user in question can then obtain a new key.
If the administrator has lost their key themselves, they can have Scopevisio unlocked via our support team
