Assigning control keys in the control matrix

Updated over 2 months ago

Aim

In this article, you will learn how to create tax keys in the tax matrix, assign tax values and activate them for postings.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Create a new line

    • Click on Add to create a new row in the tax matrix.

  2. Select control key

    • Select the desired control key.

    • Each control key may only appear once in the matrix.

  3. Set percentage rate

    • Enter the tax rate as a percentage (e.g. 19% or 7%).

  4. Assign accounts

    • Depending on the type of tax key, you must assign the following accounts:

      • Input tax account

      • Sales tax account

      • Both, if the key relates to both tax types

    • Only G/L accounts whose account indicator is marked as input tax or sales tax in the G/L account master are offered.

  5. Other accounts and fields

    • We recommend that you also maintain the other fields.

      • VAT account, not due if you are working with ACTUAL taxation.

      • Cash discount account to use the automatic cash discount. The same tax key must be assigned to the cash discount account.

      • DATEV key to use DATEV exports and imports (e.g. annual financial statement export, wage import)

  6. Save

    • Click on Save to save the assignment.

    • You can then use the tax key in postings.
